Ukraine is prepared to assist the unrecognized Transnistria in overcoming its humanitarian crisis; however, it does not see any response from those who control the situation in that region. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelensky in an evening address on Sunday, January 12. According to him, Moscow's deliberate actions have led to a vacuum of energy resources and suffering among the people in Transnistria. He noted that Russia is attempting to influence public sentiment in Moldova ahead of the elections. "Ukraine can provide assistance in the form of coal. However, we do not currently see any response from those who are effectively controlling the situation on the left bank of the Dniester. If they are siding with Russia, that is one thing, but it is entirely different if they genuinely wish to help the people in Transnistria," Zelensky emphasized, highlighting Ukraine's readiness to assist. As reported, at the beginning of January,
Transnistria refused gas supplies from Europe. Recall that Zelensky had already
offered coal assistance on January 8.
