Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that after reaching a ceasefire agreement, Ukraine will require at least 200,000 European peacekeepers to prevent a new Russian attack, as reported by Reuters.
"Of all Europeans? 200,000 is the minimum. That's the minimum, otherwise nothing," he noted at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
According to Zelensky, this number of peacekeepers is essential, as the Russian military forces number 1.5 million, while Ukraine has only half that amount.
The President also emphasized that the deployment of peacekeepers would only be part of the necessary security guarantees for Ukraine.
It is worth mentioning that Zelensky previously stated that Ukraine is discussing the deployment of peacekeepers with partners. At the same time, Kyiv will not consider any security guarantees without the United States.
As reported, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius acknowledged the possibility of German troops participating in a peacekeeping mission on Ukrainian territory.
