In Ukraine, the heating season is actively commencing, marking a crucial phase in ensuring comfortable living conditions for the population. Alexey Chernyshov, chairman of the "Naftogaz" group, reported that the warmth in homes results from the coordinated efforts of all workers in the energy sector, who operate under extremely challenging conditions, often under the threat of shelling and near combat zones.
Despite the challenges faced by the Ukrainian energy sector, the Naftogaz Group has accumulated sufficient gas to ensure a stable transition through the autumn-winter period of 2024/2025. Specifically, since the beginning of the year, the companies within the Group - "Ukrgazvydobuvannya" and "Ukrnafta" - have extracted over 7% more gas than during the same period last year. Additionally, gas extraction has resumed at the Sakhalin field, contributing to an increase in the overall production volume.
In the previous heating season, Ukraine utilized 6.7 billion cubic meters of gas from underground storage facilities. This year, a similar consumption volume is anticipated. The gas supply company "Naftogaz Trading" has already signed contracts for gas supply with all heat and utility enterprises that submitted relevant requests, indicating readiness for an active heating season.
According to Chernyshov, Naftogaz continues to supply gas under terms that ensure stable prices for heat and utility enterprises, electricity producers, and the population until the end of April 2025. This helps maintain the accessibility of energy resources for Ukrainians in challenging conditions.
