In Ukraine, power outage schedules may be reinstated due to dropping temperatures.

Meteorologists are forecasting a significant drop in temperatures in Ukraine, which could result in electricity shortages during peak hours.

Forecasters predict a significant drop in temperatures in Ukraine at the beginning of February. This may lead to the return of stabilization schedules for electricity outages, reported Stanislav Ignatiev, the chairman of the Ukrainian Renewable Energy Association.

"From February 5, frosts of up to -16 degrees are expected. According to the Ventusky meteorological radar, the cold weather may last until February 10 across the entire territory of Ukraine. This means that the average daily temperatures will drop to -10 degrees," Ignatiev stated.

He explained that the drop in temperature leads to an energy deficit in the system. Over the past three years, when temperatures fall to -5 degrees during peak hours (morning and evening), there is a deficit of about 2 GWh.

He added that technically this deficit can be covered at a level of 2.1 GWh, but only if electricity is available from European neighbors.

Ignatiev also noted that at -10 degrees, the deficit may rise to 4 GW during peak hours. This is likely to necessitate the introduction of stabilization outages in the morning and evening hours.

Recall that a meteorologist predicts the possibility of growing tropical fruits in Ukraine due to climate change. Global warming opens new opportunities for Ukrainian farmers, particularly for cultivating a third crop of grains and subtropical crops.
