Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan plans to reiterate Ankara's proposal for direct peace talks between Ukraine and Russia during a meeting of European leaders in London on Sunday, March 2. This was reported by Reuters citing a source.
The Turkish official will inform European leaders about Ankara's efforts to seek a "just and lasting peace" in the conflict.
Fidan will also reaffirm Ankara's commitment to Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty.
Specifically, the minister will "emphasize that Turkey, which facilitated direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine in March 2022, is ready to take on this role in the future," and will state that all parties should focus on long-term regional security and stability, as well as economic prosperity in the negotiations.
As is known, this week Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and First Lady Olena Zelenska arrived on an official visit to Turkey.
