The elected President of the United States, Donald Trump, held several phone conversations with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán following the elections. This was reported on Saturday, November 30, by
Radio Free Europe citing sources from its Hungarian service. It is noted that, according to government sources in Hungary, Trump was interested in Orbán's views on ending the war in Ukraine. "Orbán, who maintains friendly relations with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Trump, is critical of EU assistance to Ukraine and opposes the bloc's sanctions regime against Moscow," the publication states. It is also reported that Orbán is preparing for new trips with a peacekeeping mission in December. The details are unclear, but according to sources from Radio Free Europe's Hungarian service, it may involve delivering messages from Trump to Zelensky, Putin, and Chinese President Xi.
As is known, on July 2, Orbán visited Ukraine for the first time since the onset of the full-scale war and met with President Vladimir Zelensky. He offered the Ukrainian side a ceasefire, after which peace negotiations with Russia could begin.
Subsequently, it became known that Orbán arrived in Moscow. The Kremlin announced that the Prime Minister would meet with Vladimir Putin, and one of the main topics would be Ukraine.
