Trump can only meet with Putin if he is compelled to follow the U.S. agenda, according to Podolyak.

The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, is in a state of irrational perception of current events and will stubbornly continue to insist on his actions to avoid acknowledging defeat in the war against Ukraine. This was stated in an interview with RBK-Ukraine by Mikhail Podolyak, an advisor to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine.

"If he is ready to play along with Putin's scenario, then everyone will understand that this is Putin's scenario, and Trump is even playing a secondary role. Frankly, I still doubt that this is physically possible," Podolyak stated.

He noted that the elected U.S. President Donald Trump aims to gain political dividends from a meeting with Putin and the implementation of the scenario he proposed. Podolyak emphasized that Putin continues to insist on his right to destroy and redistribute influence, as well as to reformat the international order.

"I do not understand at all what a person who will negotiate with the Russian Federation wants to achieve - even in such intermediate negotiations. Because you have to play your own scenario. If you want to dominate, you must only play your own scenario. And to play your scenario with Russia, you must make Russia realize that this is the only possible scenario - your scenario. So, for instance, Trump's scenario is the only feasible one for Russia. And Trump's scenario can only be offered to the Russian Federation through coercive means," he added.
