The SBU thwarted an attempt by FSB agents to spy on F-16 fighter jets.

The Security Service of Ukraine successfully conducted a special operation, neutralizing an FSB agent group that was operating near a military airfield. The agents were caught "in the act" while photographing the takeoff of a Ukrainian F-16 fighter jet. This was reported by the SSU.

According to the SSU, the detainees were two residents of Kremenchuk, aged 21 and 22, who had been recruited by a staff officer of the FSB. Their task was to gather coordinates of key military airfields in Ukraine and aviation infrastructure facilities. The traitors were also supposed to prepare a detailed report with photographs and descriptions of the equipment located at these sites, to facilitate planning for enemy missile and drone strikes.

To accomplish their objectives, the agents planned to travel to five regions of Ukraine, renting accommodation near military facilities for extended surveillance. However, their activities were uncovered at an early stage. The SSU documented the agents' attempts to enter several regions and apprehended them while they were attempting to spy at one of the military airfields.

During the arrest, the criminals had their mobile phones seized, containing evidence of their collaboration with Russian intelligence services.

The suspects are currently facing charges under Part 2 of Article 28 and Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - treason committed by a group of individuals through prior conspiracy in conditions of martial law. The court has chosen a preventive measure of detention without the right to bail. For such a crime, they face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

It is worth noting that a group supplying drugs and extorting money from inmates was recently exposed in Kyiv's pre-trial detention center. Seven members of the organized group have been detained and informed of suspicion regarding several serious crimes.
