Russia launched an attack on Ukraine using 81 drones. Air defense forces shot down 37 UAVs, resulting in some hits and casualties.

On the night of January 30, 2025, Russia launched a large-scale aerial attack on Ukrainian territory. The assault began around 7:00 PM on January 29, when the adversary fired 81 strike UAVs of the "Shahed" type and various model simulation drones from the directions of Kursk, Oryol, Millerovo, and Primorsk-Akhtarsk. This information is reported by the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The airspace of Ukraine was actively defended by mobile fire groups of the Air Forces, anti-aircraft missile troops, and electronic warfare (EW) units. Preliminary data indicates that by the morning of January 30, 37 enemy UAVs, including "Shahed," were shot down in the Poltava, Sumy, Kyiv, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, and Odesa regions.

However, the enemy was not without results: 39 enemy simulation drones were destroyed with minimal consequences for Ukrainian regions. Nonetheless, significant destruction occurred in several areas of Ukraine.

The hardest hit were the Chernihiv, Sumy, Odesa, and Poltava regions. As a result of a direct strike on a high-rise building in Sumy, several people lost their lives, and other cities sustained considerable damage. Industrial enterprises, residential buildings, and vehicles also suffered from enemy attacks.

Rescue services are promptly operating at the sites, addressing the aftermath of the strikes and providing assistance to the affected.

As a reminder, the impact of a "Shahed" drone on a residential building in Sumy resulted in 4 fatalities, 9 injuries, and extensive destruction. In Sumy, a Russian kamikaze drone hit a high-rise building: 4 people died, and 9 were injured, including a child.
