In January, air defense systems shot down over 2,300 Russian drones and missiles.

The defense forces shot down 2,219 drones of various types and 45 missiles that Russia used to attack Ukrainian territory in January. This information was reported by the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Sunday, February 2.   The air defense system downed:   - 31 cruise missiles X-101, Kalibr, Iskander-K; - 2 ballistic missiles Iskander-M; - 12 guided air-to-surface missiles X-59/69; - 1,595 strike UAVs of the Shahed type; - 388 reconnaissance UAVs; - 236 UAVs of other types.   In January, the tactical aviation of the Air Forces conducted over 220 sorties for aerial reconnaissance, fighter cover, fire strikes, and air support for ground units. Of these, 77 were for fire strikes, and 79 were for fighter air cover.   Additionally, in January, aviation destroyed 215 aerial targets and struck command posts, UAV control points, and areas of concentration of equipment and personnel.   As previously reported, as a result of an enemy "Shahed" drone hitting a multi-story residential building in Sumy, four people died and nine were injured with varying degrees of severity.   It is worth noting that earlier the air defense forces shot down 29 Russian drones, and 14 UAVs were lost due to radar detection.
