Secretary of the parliamentary committee on national security, defense, and intelligence Roman Kostenko stated that the U.S. has suspended arms sales to Ukraine. However, his remarks on Thursday, February 20, were denied by MP Oleksandra Ustinova. Thus, MP Kostenko mentioned in an
interview with Natalia Mosiychuk that American arms sales to Ukraine have been halted. "It's one thing to assist with resources, and we are purchasing armaments. According to my information, what was even up for sale has been stopped. Even those companies that were ready to deliver tomorrow are now waiting. Because there is no decision," Kostenko said. He explained that Western countries, including Germany, France, and Britain, had allocated significant funds for Kyiv to procure this weaponry globally. Meanwhile, MP from the Holos party Oleksandra Ustinova asserted that the U.S. has not halted arms sales to Ukraine. "The U.S. has not stopped arms sales to Ukraine. Friends in the media, please verify information before publication. We are currently living in very difficult times; we should not add fuel to the fire," she wrote on
Facebook. Unlike Kostenko, Ustinova is not a member of the relevant committee. At the same time, media reports suggest she is close to the head of the President's Office, Andriy Yermak, and Defense Minister Rustem Umerov. In addition, Oleksandra Ustinova heads the temporary investigative commission monitoring international aid, which may give her insight into the volumes and timelines of arms deliveries. Recall that Republican Congressman Joe Wilson has introduced a bill in the U.S. House of Representatives to grant the president expanded powers to provide Ukraine with assistance in the form of
lend-lease. Additionally, U.S. President Donald
Trump stated that he would allow Europe to purchase American weapons for Kyiv.
