Law enforcement officials have identified a Russian military officer who abducted a 21-year-old resident of Izium, deported her to Russia, and held her captive for over a year while systematically beating and raping her. The victim attempted to take her own life. This information was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General on Wednesday, January 29. He has been informed of the suspicion of cruel treatment of civilians and violations of the laws and customs of war, committed in conspiracy by a group of individuals (Part 1 of Article 438, Part 2 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The suspect is a serviceman of the 1st Motorized Rifle Regiment (military unit No. 31135) of the 2nd Motorized Rifle Division of the 1st Tank Army of the Western Military District of the Russian Army, who participated in the capture of Izium. According to the investigation, in the spring of 2022, while in one of the villages of the Izium district, the suspect broke into the house where the 21-year-old girl lived with her family. The occupier seized the girl and forcibly dragged her to a neighboring private residence where no one was present. Threatening her with a firearm, he raped her. He later did this again. Subsequently, the occupier asked two "brothers" with the call signs Ibrahim and Maga to take the girl to Belgorod. In June 2022, the soldiers came to her, ordered her to pack her things and documents immediately, and threatened to shoot her entire family if she refused or resisted. The man brought the girl to an apartment in Belgorod, where he kept her against her will for over a year, raping and systematically beating her. To prevent her from escaping, the windows and balcony were secured with iron bars, and the front door was always locked. Systematic beatings, psychological suffering, illegal detention, and sexual slavery pushed the girl to attempt suicide: the victim ingested boric acid. The girl managed to escape captivity after the occupier was detained by the Russian military police for evading service. It is noted that the victim is currently in Ukraine. Recall that law enforcement officials identified the commander of a platoon of the Airborne Forces of the Russian Army who fired upon unarmed local residents in Bucha, Kyiv region. Earlier, the identity of a Russian war criminal was established, who participated in the torture of civilians during the occupation of part of the Kyiv region. The Security Service of Ukraine also reported suspicions against the former head of a Russian detention facility in the Luhansk region, who staged a "shooting" of Ukrainian prisoners.
