Two-thirds of Ukrainians (63%) express full or partial approval of Vladimir Zelensky's actions as President of Ukraine, while 14.4% of respondents do not support his activities at all. According to the results of an opinion poll conducted by the Onukh IBIF project team with support from the British Academy, the president's approval has slightly increased compared to the previous study. This is stated in the results of the Onukh IBIF survey (Identity and Borders in Change: The Case of Ukraine), funded by the British Academy, carried out from November 2024 to January 2025, as cited by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology.
Surveyors noted that while the approval rating of Zelensky's actions is close to the level of trust in him, these two indicators do not coincide, as a person may approve of someone's actions but not fully trust them.
“It should be noted that data on support and trust are not identical to electoral ratings, as people are guided by different criteria during voting. There is often confusion when the level of approval or trust is interpreted as an electoral rating, which is incorrect,” the KMIС explained.
The survey also explored what qualities Ukrainians attribute to their president. 74% of respondents consider him a patriot, 73% view him as an intelligent and knowledgeable person, 60% are confident in his honesty and trustworthiness, while 65% rate him as a strong leader.
Additionally, the research results showed that Zelensky holds a leading position among political figures for potential future elections, receiving support from 26-32% of citizens in the first round. The MP from "European Solidarity," Petro Poroshenko, currently garners only 5-6% support.
Researchers also highlighted a potential candidate for the second round – Valerii Zaluzhnyi, the former Commander-in-Chief, who is currently the Ambassador of Ukraine to the UK. However, he has not publicly expressed any political ambitions.
The survey was conducted from November 22, 2024, to January 7, 2025, through telephone interviews among 1,600 respondents aged 18 and older. Residents of temporarily occupied territories and those who left the country after February 24, 2022, were not included in the sample.
It is worth recalling that a Member of the European Parliament stated: Trump gave Europe three weeks to accept the conditions for Ukraine's surrender. Finnish MP Mika Aatola reported that the USA has given Europe three weeks to agree on the terms of Ukraine's surrender.
