The Commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Major General Mykhailo Drapaty, has initiated an independent investigation involving military counterintelligence to examine the tragedy at the training ground where servicemen lost their lives due to a Russian missile strike. Mykhailo Drapaty announced this on Telegram.
“I am personally monitoring every step of the investigation. Because it hurts me too. Because anger is eating me inside,” wrote Drapaty.
He emphasized that all those responsible for decisions made or not made in a timely manner will be held accountable.
To ensure the objectivity of the investigation, an independent review has been appointed, involving military counterintelligence. Major General Drapaty stated that no individual will be able to evade responsibility by hiding behind formalities or bureaucratic processes.
“I suspect that the truth will be attempted to be concealed in the fog of bureaucracy. But I will not allow that,” the commander added.
According to him, the Armed Forces must finally break the system of formalism and outdated practices that can threaten the safety and lives of military personnel. He added that every commander—from general to sergeant—must recognize their responsibility not only on the battlefield but also in the rear.
The investigation into the circumstances of the tragedy is ongoing. Major General Mykhailo Drapaty promised that all aspects of the incident would be clarified and that those responsible would be held accountable.
As reported by the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on March 1, one of the units became the target of an enemy missile strike, resulting in casualties and injuries.
