Fighters from the 125th Separate Brigade of the Territorial Defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reacted to the detention of their former commander, Arthur Gorbenko, who is suspected of failing to defend the Kharkiv region during the Russian troops' offensive in 2024.
The military expressed their support for the lieutenant general and noted that they are ready to reveal the "true story" of the events that took place in court.
"In Kharkiv, we held a significant portion of the border; we fought to the death in the first hours of the invasion. We were few, we had limited ammunition, we had little support, but we fought, fought under the command of the brigade commander," the statement reads.
They emphasized that Gorbenko's guilt has not yet been proven and expressed their readiness to share the full truth about the situation in the Kharkiv region based on their own observations and experiences.
Let us remind you, the capture of Kharkiv in 2024: the SBU and the State Bureau of Investigation uncovered three military commanders. The SBU and the State Bureau of Investigation revealed the criminal actions of three high-ranking officials of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who failed to ensure proper defense of Kharkiv in May 2024.
