In Ukraine, the conditions for applying the preferential tariff on electricity for consumers with electric heating systems have been changed.

This was reported by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

According to him, the new rules allow consumers with electric heating to pay the full price only for the consumption exceeding the limit of 2000 kWh, while the remaining electricity consumed will be calculated at the preferential tariff.

Previously, the preferential tariff of 2.64 UAH was applied only if the total consumption did not exceed 2000 kWh per month. Consumers who exceeded this limit were forced to pay the full tariff for the entire amount. Now, the first 2000 kWh per month will be charged at the preferential rate of 2.64 UAH per 1 kWh, while the volumes exceeding this limit will be subject to the standard tariff of 4.32 UAH per 1 kWh. For instance, if consumption is 2500 kWh in a month, only 500 kWh will be calculated at the full tariff.

The preferential tariff for users with electric heating is valid during the heating season – from October 1 to April 30. It is available only if there is no other type of heating in the house, all technical requirements are met, and the documents for the electric heating equipment are properly arranged. This innovation is part of a broader support program for Ukrainians that the government is implementing this winter.
