A woman offered a border guard three thousand US dollars to overlook the purchased documents.
At the Rava-Ruska border crossing, border guards from the Lviv unit uncovered a woman attempting to bribe the officers. This was reported by the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine on Monday, November 18.
The woman, a native of Sumy born in 1976, intended to pay money so that her conscripted relative could leave for Poland with forged documents.
"The woman offered the border guard $3,000 to 'look the other way' regarding the purchased documents. Accompanying her was a man, one of her close relatives, who was to support her. The basis for the man's departure was supposed to be, among other things, a conclusion from the Medical and Social Expert Commission and an act confirming the fact of caring for the woman," the report stated.
However, the documents turned out to be fake. During the conversation, the woman admitted that she had purchased the documents. She revealed that the package of documents cost her $8,000, which also included detailed instructions on how to behave with border guards and what to say. Additionally, she was given guidance regarding her supposed "illness" and the medications she was allegedly taking.
The border guards stated that the man, who supposedly provided care, would not be allowed to cross the border. At that point, the woman attempted to offer a bribe to the border guards amounting to $3,000. A report about the incident was sent to the National Police.
It is worth noting that since the beginning of the war, border guards have thwarted 1,253 attempts to provide illegal benefits totaling nearly 15 million hryvnias.
