President Volodymyr Zelensky congratulated the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, on the approval of the new composition of the College of Commissioners. He expressed confidence that during this term, Ukraine will become a full member of the European Union.
"I wish the new composition of the European Commission success in strengthening a united Europe and enhancing the EU's role as a global leader. We look forward to continuing our fruitful cooperation on key issues of the Ukraine-EU strategic agenda. We are confident that during the term of this European Commission, Ukraine will achieve its strategic goal of EU membership," he wrote.
The head of the European Commission is elected for a five-year term, and Zelensky hopes that Ukraine will reach its goal of joining the EU during this period.
It is worth noting that Ukraine has lost between 60,000 and 100,000 lives and 400,000 injured over three years of war with the Russian Federation, according to The Economist.
