If the corps management system in the Armed Forces of Ukraine reduces bureaucracy, it should be implemented. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelensky during a meeting with media representatives at the Third International Conference on Food Security "Grain from Ukraine" on Saturday, November 23, reports Interfax-Ukraine. "This is for the military to decide. If the corps system they are proposing today reduces the distance between the general and the soldier, if this bureaucratic load is diminished, let them do it to reduce it," the president said. Zelensky emphasized that the current task is to minimize bureaucracy in the army, and this should be managed by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi. "An officer must see the soldier. A general who has not been in the trenches is, for me personally, not a general. Regardless of experience. With all due respect. Today, the most challenging situation is at the front, in the trenches," the head of state noted. According to the president, it is essential not only to discuss problematic issues at the command headquarters but also to communicate directly with the soldiers. "That’s why Syrskyi is constantly at the front, always traveling. We communicate with him every day, twice a day. He has morning and evening reports. But that’s still not enough. Generals must be in the trenches. That’s the nature of this war. The moral state of the military is the most important thing," Zelensky emphasized. It was previously reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will present a reform concept by the end of November, under which the army will transition to a "corps-brigade" system.
