Ukraine cannot legally recognize the occupied territories as Russian, but it is willing to pursue their return through diplomatic means, the head of state explained.
Зеленский прокомментировал предложение "пожертвовать" Крымом.
Ukraine currently lacks the necessary strength to reclaim its 1991 borders through military means. However, Kyiv is prepared to pursue the return of Crimea through diplomatic channels. This was stated by President Vladimir Zelensky in an interview with Fox News.   The president emphasized that Ukraine cannot legally recognize any occupied territory as Russian.   "We are talking about the territories that were occupied by Putin before the full-scale invasion, since 2014. Legally, we do not recognize this. We do not accept it. On the other hand, we understand that we currently lack the power to push Putin back to the 1991 line with weapons in hand," the head of state explained his position.   According to him, the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has made it clear that he has no intention of returning Crimea to Ukraine under any circumstances.   "Are you willing to give up Crimea for a peace agreement that would end this war and stop the bloodshed in Ukraine? I have already mentioned that we are ready to return Crimea diplomatically. We cannot afford to lose tens of thousands of our people just to reclaim Crimea," the president added.   The head of state understands that Ukraine will only manage to reclaim Crimea through diplomatic means.   Earlier, Zelensky expressed his belief that Trump wants an immediate end to the war, but it could entail losses for Ukraine.   Crimea is no more, peace is needed - Trump's advisor
