An foreign national will be prosecuted for the murder of a janitor in Kyiv.

An indictment has been filed in court against a 57-year-old foreign national accused of the intentional murder of a janitor. This was reported by the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office on November 18. It is noted that in July 2024, an employee of the utility company in the Pechersk district was returning home from work and accidentally encountered an aggressively disposed stranger on Bohomoltsia Street. As a result of a verbal altercation, the passerby unexpectedly struck the janitor in the temple with a knife he had on him. The seriously injured 40-year-old man was accidentally discovered by passersby who called for emergency medical assistance; however, a few days later, the victim, never regaining consciousness, died in the hospital. The day after the crime was committed, the suspect—a 57-year-old citizen of a foreign state—was apprehended. He had previously been sentenced in 2010 to 7 years in prison for causing grievous bodily harm to a resident of the Pechersk district. However, after serving 4 years of his sentence, he was released due to amnesty. After completing his sentence, the man returned to Kyiv and lived for nearly 10 years on the staircase landing of a residential building in Pechersk. Due to expired documents, the foreigner was subject to deportation from Ukraine; however, considering his vagrant lifestyle, the prescribed orders were not carried out. During his arrest on suspicion of murdering the janitor, clothing with traces of blood was seized from him, but the detainee insisted that it was spilled tea. Recall that a murder occurred in a hotel in the city of Brovary. A resident of the Lviv region sustained gunshot wounds to the head, chest, and abdomen. He died on the spot. It was also reported that in a forested area in the Baltsky community of the Odesa region, a mushroom picker found a decapitated and burned body of a woman. A pre-trial investigation has been initiated into the intentional murder.
