In just one day, border guards apprehended six individuals attempting to swim across the Tisza River.

Border guards from the Mukachevo unit apprehended six men who were attempting to illegally cross the border via the Tisza River.

On January 26, border guards from the Mukachevo unit apprehended six individuals attempting to illegally cross the state border of Ukraine via the Tisza River. This information was reported by the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine (GPSU).

Four men were detected by remote monitoring devices along the border with Hungary. A response team from the "Vylok" border service unit detained them immediately after they crossed the barrier. Three of the violators sustained cuts on their hands while attempting to climb over the barbed wire.

The detainees turned out to be residents of Cherkasy region. According to their statements, they were following the instructions of smugglers who assured them of the safety of crossing the river. Each man paid an advance of 2,500 US dollars for the organization of the crossing.

Additionally, two more individuals, a resident of Transcarpathia and one from Kherson, were apprehended on the outskirts of the village of Luh near the border with Romania. They intended to swim across the Tisza on their own. A patrol from the "Velyky Bychkiv" border service unit stopped them just 30 meters from the border.

All violators were issued administrative offense protocols under Article 204-1 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses (KUAOP) for "Illegal crossing or attempted illegal crossing of the state border." The cases have been forwarded to court.
