Language inspectors in Ivano-Frankivsk found numerous violations, according to the mayor.

Language inspectors in Ivano-Frankivsk have identified violations of language legislation, particularly in the city's supermarkets.
Мэр Ивано-Франковска сообщил о многочисленных нарушениях, выявленных языковыми инспекторами.

In just two and a half weeks of their work, language inspectors in Ivano-Frankivsk uncovered a significant number of violations of the language law. The mayor of Ivano-Frankivsk, Ruslan Marcinkiv, reported on November 13 on his official website about an important incident.

Language volunteer Taras Lyalyk drew attention to Russian-language signs found in one of the local supermarkets. He emphasized that this is not the first instance of violations of language legislation in the region. Such incidents require increased attention, especially in the context of supporting the Ukrainian language at all levels of public life.

"In one of the supermarkets, I found price tags and announcements with Russian-language overlays. The administrator responded immediately and changed the price tag; I hope they also changed what else was proven to be there," the man recounts.

Another active language volunteer is Svitlana Burtniak, a former Ukrainian language teacher from the city of Marhanets, located in the Nikopol district of Dnipropetrovsk region. Due to the full-scale invasion, Svitlana was forced to relocate to Ivano-Frankivsk.

"I signed up as a language volunteer because language is unity. It is very pleasant that everyone here speaks Ukrainian and all events are conducted in Ukrainian. I want to thank all the participants who come to the Ukrainian language courses - they are from Kherson, Donetsk regions, and from the city of Kharkiv. They are all making an effort and trying to speak Ukrainian. I also enrolled in Ukrainian language courses and I recommend it to everyone, so we can smoothly transition and speak Ukrainian," she shared.

The mayor of Ivano-Frankivsk noted that the increase in the use of the Russian language in the city raises concerns among local residents. This issue remains relevant for many and requires further attention from the authorities and the public.

Let us remind you that the first language volunteer inspectors in Ivano-Frankivsk will appear on October 28. Starting from October 28, the first language volunteer inspectors will begin their activities within the framework of the Ukrainization program.
