Zelensky warns that the U.S. withdrawal from NATO could trigger the onset of a new war.

The North Atlantic Alliance (NATO) simply will not exist if the United States of America (USA) leaves it. This will weaken Ukraine and lead to a large-scale war in Europe. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made this statement in a podcast with American journalist of Ukrainian descent Lex Fridman, published on Sunday, January 5.     At the same time, he emphasized that NATO "has no right to resolve issues through war," as it is a security alliance established for protection.   "So when Putin says this is an offensive, it is not an offensive, it is a defensive alliance," Zelensky stated.   He suggested that "not everything is well in the Alliance due to bureaucracy or money," but there is no war on the territories of member states.   "I think that is the answer. It either works or it doesn’t. It works politically or militarily, I don’t know, but it works. So without Trump and without the United States, NATO simply will not exist," the Ukrainian leader said.   The president remarked that the withdrawal of the United States from NATO and a weak Ukraine, which serves as "a great wall for Europe," would lead to a large-scale war that Putin would bring to Europe.
