Russian military forces are now within the city limits of Kurakhovo in the Donetsk region, approximately 1.2 kilometers away, controlling around 15% of the territory of this settlement. This information is reported by journalists from BILD, citing the opinion of Julian Röpke, an expert in open data analysis.
According to him, the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) are at risk of being encircled near the city of Kurakhovo: to the north, they are separated by a reservoir, while Russian troops are advancing from the east, southeast, and southwest.
"The Russian Armed Forces managed to make a leap of 5-6 km and enter the village of Dalneye at the center of the formed semi-encirclement. Thus, the Ukrainian defenders have been divided. To the south of Dalneye, several hundred UAF soldiers continue to defend 5-6 villages along the banks of the river Sukhi Yaly. They are now surrounded from the north, south, and east," the report states.
It is noted that the only way for the soldiers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to escape the encirclement is through the village of Konstantinopolskoye. According to Röpke, Ukrainian troops will retreat in advance to avoid getting trapped in a "cauldron." He indicates that the situation in the south is very dire.
Earlier, it was reported that during the Russian offensive, the occupiers destroyed the dam of the Kurakhovo reservoir. The water level in the Volcha River has risen by one meter, and locals along the shoreline are observing a significant increase in the water level.
