Military training should commence with the development of national consciousness, starting from preschool age. This opinion was expressed by military expert, retired Colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Sergey Grabsky. This was reported by UNIAN.

He noted that an example of early military training can be seen in Poland, where a national scouting organization is actively working.

"Young people should possess some basic skills. Of course, I also critically view the drill training that was conducted in schools, which was often just a formality, but that does not mean we should forget about it. From the very beginning, a young person should understand where their talents lie - whether in technology, electronics, certain special tasks, sniper training, etc.," the expert stated.

Grabsky emphasized the need to approach this issue flexibly, taking into account regional characteristics, traditions, and national roots.

He also suggested organizing competitions among various children's patriotic organizations, which would help foster healthy competition under the state's supervision. In his opinion, this would allow for the integration of the best ideas and their continued development.

According to him, school training should be geared towards further specialization, and upon completing university, everyone should have a specific profession and undergo military service. Grabsky is confident that in wartime conditions, there can be no distinction between conscripted and non-conscripted citizens. He also noted that the reserve training system should consider both international experience, including NATO standards, and innovations that Ukraine is developing during the war. However, he acknowledged that implementing such a system could be challenging, as reserve training should not negatively impact the country's economic situation.

Grabsky stressed that while it is possible to train all conscripts, the state must continue to function and provide the armed forces with necessary resources. In conclusion, the expert noted that it is difficult to find a country that could serve as an ideal example in military training matters.

"Therefore, we are talking about a combined training approach that can incorporate elements used not in one country, but in a group of countries. This means we should take the best practices from there and, based on our own wartime experience, develop our own training system, which other countries should then look to as an example," he added.
