In the Khmelnytskyi district of the Vinnytsia region, the police apprehended a man who brutally beat his acquaintance and intended to bury him alive in a field. This was reported on Saturday, January 18, by the press service of the Vinnytsia police. It was stated that the co-owner of a farm called the police, informing them that one of his workers had assaulted another on the premises. "Upon arrival at the scene, police officers found a 46-year-old victim in a field, near the farm's auxiliary buildings. He was immediately taken to the hospital, where he later died during medical assistance. The 28-year-old suspect was detained on the farm's territory, where he had hidden in one of the outbuildings," the report said. Law enforcement established that the detained man struck the victim multiple times with an axe, and after the victim ceased to show signs of life, the perpetrator loaded him onto a cart and transported him to the field. There, he intended to bury the body, but the victim regained consciousness. The suspect then struck him several times with a shovel before fleeing. The detainee had previously come to the police's attention for theft and drug-related offenses. For intentional serious bodily harm resulting in the victim's death, the detainee faces up to 10 years in prison.
