In 2025, the development of wind energy will be a key focus for renewable energy sources in Ukraine. This was stated by the Minister of Energy of Ukraine, Herman Halushchenko, in an
interview with Ukrinform during the international exhibition-conference ReBuild Ukraine Construction and Energy in Warsaw.
"From the perspective of green energy, we certainly intend to significantly increase wind generation next year. There are plans to construct specific wind generation facilities with a capacity of over 800 MW," the minister stated.
According to him, Western partners of Ukraine showed considerable interest in wind generation during the conference in Warsaw.
"We discussed this with our Norwegian colleagues, who are now considering a large project in Ukraine with a capacity of 300 MW, specifically related to wind energy," Halushchenko emphasized.
He believes that the development of solar energy should also be pursued.
"On this matter, we expect that next year programs for households will be actively launched. We are very hopeful that people will install solar panels, as the state is creating such opportunities, and banks have united regarding the possibility of obtaining zero-interest loans for 10 years. This is just the beginning, but I think next year we will see entirely different figures and will observe progress in this direction," Halushchenko said.
However, the minister believes that the primary focus next year should be on the development of wind energy and the implementation of projects that are already planned in this area.
As Halushchenko stated, following the failure of the first auction for the allocation of renewable energy support quotas, the ministry is exploring changes to the auction conditions.
It is worth noting that the Cabinet of Ministers supported the resolution on the
introduction of guarantees for the origin of electricity produced from renewable energy sources (RES).
