During the altercation, one of the participants sustained severe injuries and soon died in the hospital. The second man has been detained and charged. According to the military office, the incident indeed took place at the Military Recruitment Center, but those detained are not its employees. The Center emphasized that its staff is actively cooperating with law enforcement and assisting in the investigation by providing all surveillance footage.

"During the pre-trial investigation, law enforcement established that a sudden conflict arose between a local resident and a serviceman. In the heat of the argument, the serviceman lost control and inflicted bodily harm on the man. The victim was hospitalized but succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. The fact of the fight was recorded by the police of the Sumy region, and an information message was posted on the official Telegram channel of the regional national police," the statement said.
