JATEC is being established as part of the implementation of the NATO Washington Summit. It will be the first joint institution between Ukraine and NATO.

"The Center will assist Ukraine in integrating into the Alliance's structures, facilitate the exchange of experiences between the parties, and seek solutions to enhance the defense capabilities of Ukraine and NATO," Klochko noted.

Participants in the meeting discussed the implementation of the necessary measures for the establishment of the Center and confirmed their intention to commence operations at the beginning of 2025.

Among these measures are the coordination of necessary legal procedures, particularly ensuring Ukraine's participation in the management and decision-making processes within the Center's structure.

From the Alliance's side, the event was attended by NATO Assistant Secretary General Thomas Goffus, Supreme Allied Commander Transformation Admiral Pierre Vandier, General Manager of the NATO Communications and Information Agency Ludwig Decamps, and NATO's Senior Representative in Ukraine Patrick Turner.

They also discussed the creation of an information and communication system that will enable interaction and secure data exchange between Ukraine and NATO. Ukraine will become the first partner country with which the Alliance will establish such a secure system.

The parties agreed on a list of initial urgent projects that the Center will begin its activities with.

Earlier, we reported that the first high-level meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Joint Center for Analysis, Preparation, and Education (JATEC) took place in Poland – the first joint institution of NATO and Ukraine aimed at enhancing defense capabilities and accelerating NATO membership.

Recall that U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken confirmed the irreversibility of Ukraine's movement towards NATO membership and emphasized the importance of implementing relevant reforms in the country.
