ISW examined the potential for a Russian offensive in the Zaporizhzhia region.

ISW analysts commented on the statements from the Ukrainian side regarding the preparedness of the Russian Federation Army for new attacks in the Zaporizhia direction. This was reported by the Institute for the Study of War.

Recently, the spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces, Vladislav Voloshin, informed Reuters that Russian military units are relocating assault groups to frontline positions in Zaporizhia region. However, it remains unclear whether the occupiers will conduct a coordinated offensive operation or if these will be separate assaults.

Voloshin also warned that the enemy might soon intensify shelling, utilizing armored vehicles, buggies, and motorcycles, as Russian troops have conducted reconnaissance in the area and increased the number of airstrikes in southern regions by 30-40% over the past two weeks. Previously, Voloshin reported that Russian occupiers are concentrating their forces in the areas of Kamensky, Huliaipole, and Robotyne for intensified assaults in those regions.

Additionally, prior to this, a spokesperson for one of the Ukrainian brigades operating in the Zaporizhia direction announced the concentration of enemy forces for conducting attacks and that Russian troops are carrying out infantry assaults daily in groups of 10 to 20 people. However, ISW experts noted that they have not received any information about the relocation of Russian troops from other sectors of the front to the Zaporizhia direction.

"Russian troops resumed minor attacks on the Zaporizhia front line near Kamensky and the Great Novoselka area in early October 2024 after nearly a year-long hiatus," the analysts stated.

Earlier, it was reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine warned about a possible Russian offensive: where the enemy might strike. The Defense Forces assert that attacks could begin in the near future, suggesting that it may not be just weeks away.
