The information circulated in the media about the supposed statements made by Kyrylo Budanov, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, during a closed session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, is not true. This was reported by the press service of the GUR MO of Ukraine.
The GUR has denied rumors claiming that Budanov allegedly stated the need to initiate negotiations to end the war before the summer of 2025 due to threats to the country's existence.
The agency emphasized that such reports are false and called for refraining from spreading unverified information, especially concerning security matters.
"The dissemination of any messages regarding what is supposedly discussed at official meetings classified as confidential, involving the military-political leadership of the state, harms the country's security and is exploited by the enemy for their own purposes," the statement said.
Furthermore, the GUR reminded that Ukraine continues to resist Russian aggression and is fighting for its independence.
"The informational aspect of the war is also critically important. We remind you of the martial law in effect across our entire territory," the intelligence agency added.
It should be noted that Kyrylo Budanov warned about the threat to Ukraine if negotiations do not take place by summer, according to the media. During a closed meeting with Rada deputies, Budanov stated there is a serious threat to the country's existence if peace talks do not begin before summer.
