Collectors are willing to pay significant amounts for certain types of Ukrainian coins. For instance, 1-hryvnia coins can be valued in the tens of thousands of hryvnias. This is evidenced by data from the specialists of the resource "Monety-yagodky".

For example, a 1-hryvnia coin from 1992 of the variety 1.1AA can be sold for 12,000 to 37,000 hryvnias. This means the maximum price is nearly 900 dollars. The main feature of such a coin is its smooth edge.
"On 1-hryvnia coins from 1992, there were no inscriptions on the edge, meaning the edge is smooth. This is because initially there were no tools available for engraving edge inscriptions", experts say.
There are also cheaper varieties of 1-hryvnia coins. For example, a 1-hryvnia coin from 2001 of the variety 1ADh can bring up to 5,000 hryvnias.
You can identify the coin by its smooth edge without inscriptions, but it's also important to check its parameters: weight of 6.8 grams and a diameter of 26 mm. This is crucial because counterfeiters often forge such coins by grinding off the inscriptions on the edge of the cheaper 2001 hryvnia.
