Sibiga urged for more effective sanctions against Russia.

Despite claims from Russian propaganda, the sanctions are effective. However, the minister believes it is now essential to strengthen law enforcement, close loopholes, and continue to increase pressure across various sectors.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga emphasizes the need to enhance the effectiveness of anti-Russian sanctions, particularly against the Russian shadow fleet, IT metallurgy, and nuclear energy. The head of the ministry stated this on platform X on Sunday, January 5.   "Despite statements from Russian propaganda, sanctions are working. We must make them more effective. Strengthen enforcement, close loopholes, and continue to increase pressure across various sectors: shadow fleet, metallurgy, LNG, frozen assets, nuclear energy, military industry, IT, and others," wrote Sibiga.   It was previously reported that Russian airlines from May 2022 to June 2023 procured spare parts worth at least $1.2 billion in circumvention of sanctions.
