The law enforcement authorities have detained a lieutenant colonel from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who, according to the investigation, collaborated with the occupiers. This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine.

It is noted that with the assistance of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, and the Commander of the Special Operations Forces, Oleksandr Trepak, a serviceman was detained who, according to the investigation, worked for the Russian military intelligence (GRU).

The case involves the deputy colonel, head of one of the SSO units, who was recruited by the occupiers even before the full-scale war began. According to the Security Service of Ukraine, in the spring of 2024, he was remotely "activated" by a Russian intelligence officer and instructed to transmit plans for combat operations of the Defense Forces behind enemy lines. The Russians were particularly interested in information about the reconnaissance and sabotage missions of Ukrainian special forces beyond the front line in the directions of Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, and Crimea.

To fulfill his task, the man abused his official position, which allowed him to obtain information about the planned routes of movement for the Defense Forces, their armaments, and "targets." The enemy intended to use this information to eliminate Ukrainian special forces either on the front lines or outside of them – in the temporarily occupied territories in southern Ukraine. Additionally, he relayed information about other Defense Forces units to his Russian handler.

According to the investigation, the man was recruited through acquaintances in Russia, with whom he maintained contact. During searches, items related to covert communication, computer equipment, a mobile phone, and storage devices were seized from the detainee. He has been notified of suspicion of treason and is currently in custody. If convicted, the suspect faces life imprisonment with confiscation of his property.

Earlier, it was reported that counterfeit documents and fake certificates from the Military Medical Commission: in the regions, authorities uncovered a deputy and officials from the TCC. The Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police revealed six new schemes to evade mobilization and illegal exit from the country.
