The Security Service of Ukraine has launched a criminal investigation into the leak of potential statements made by the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Kyrylo Budanov, during a closed session of the Verkhovna Rada. Budanov allegedly stated that without negotiations with Russia regarding a ceasefire, there is a real threat to Ukraine's existence. This was reported by hromadske, citing the press service of the SBU.
It is specified that the criminal case was opened on January 28 after the disclosure of information classified as "Secret" and entrusted to certain individuals during a confidential parliamentary meeting.
The SBU reported that the investigation is being conducted under the article concerning the disclosure of state secrets that resulted in serious consequences (Part 2, Article 328 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
