Sometimes, military personnel leave their unit for exceptional personal reasons, such as stress, fatigue from the workload, or emotional experiences.

One such case involved a 22-year-old soldier who decided to escape due to love, but later returned and shared his story with journalists from Army.TV.

According to him, he fell in love with a girl, which prompted him to leave the service to be with her. However, the relationship did not meet his expectations, and over time, he chose to return to the army. An important factor was that due to the decriminalization of desertion, he was able to come back without facing serious legal consequences.

“In the first few months, I struggled with my decision, but then I started looking for ways to rehabilitate myself. I was waiting for the law that would allow me to return to the army, and I actively searched for information online. I found a contact number, called the military, and gathered all the necessary documents,” he says.

Thanks to his initiative and the support of law enforcement, the soldier was able to rejoin the ranks of the Armed Forces, where his return was met with understanding.

Additionally, Politeka wrote about a case in the Kostopil District Court of the Rivne region, which dealt with a mass desertion of soldiers from their deployment location.
