Rubio: Kyiv and Moscow will not achieve all of their objectives.

The U.S. Secretary of State stated that a significant amount of "hard work" is needed to bring the war to a conclusion, and this will take some time.

Neither Ukraine nor Russia will be able to achieve their "maximalist goals" as a result of the war. The conflict must end through negotiations and concessions from both sides. This was stated on Thursday, January 30, by U.S. Secretary of State Mark Rubio in an interview with journalist Megyn Kelly.     He noted that ending the war, which the Russian Federation is waging against Ukraine, will take time.   When asked which country's leader poses the biggest "obstacle" to initiating peace talks, Rubio emphasized that both Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin have their own internal interests.   "If you imagine being Ukrainian, with Russians causing you so much suffering, would you allow them to keep the land (under Russian control – ed.)? I mean, people in Ukraine would be upset about that, and that's understandable," the U.S. Secretary of State added.   However, he stressed that there are more "mature" realities of life. Both sides are paying a heavy price in this war. Both Ukraine and Russia are interested in bringing this conflict to an end, Rubio stated.   "This (the war in Ukraine – ed.) will not end with one side achieving maximalist goals, and a lot of hard work will be required. I believe that only the United States under President Trump's leadership can make this possible. It won't be easy, and it will take some time. But I know he (Trump – ed.) intends to achieve this," concluded U.S. Secretary of State Rubio.   Previously, Rubio stated that the U.S. aims to resolve the conflict in a way that prevents its resurgence in a few years.
