The Russian army committed a war crime in the city of Sudzha, Kursk region, by deliberately dropping a guided aerial bomb (GAB) on a boarding school with civilians. This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Saturday, February 1. "At the time of the attack, dozens of local residents were inside the building preparing for evacuation. The Russian side was aware that only civilians—local residents, including women and children—were present at the boarding school. Efforts are currently being made to rescue those who survived," the statement said. According to Ukrainian military officials, the strike on the boarding school in Sudzha represents yet another war crime committed by Russian authorities against the civilian population. "The Russian army terrorizes Ukrainian cities daily with missile and drone strikes, destroying residential buildings, schools, and hospitals. Now, it has begun to deliberately kill its own peaceful citizens. For every war crime, the terrorists will inevitably face consequences," the General Staff added. In turn, the spokesperson for the Ukrainian military command in Sudzha, Alexey Dmitrashkovsky reported that 95 civilians from the Russian Federation were at the boarding school. Most of these individuals are elderly and bedridden. The day before, it became known that the Armed Forces of Ukraine successfully struck a command post of the Russian troops grouping in Kursk. This command post was located in the Russian city of Rylsk. A month ago, the Armed Forces of Ukraine hit the command post of the Russians in the city of Lgov in the Kursk region. It was later revealed that the command of the 810th Marine Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces was affected by the strike. At that time, the deputy commander of the brigade was killed along with 17 other Russian soldiers.
