On the afternoon of January 17, Russian forces launched a ballistic strike on Kryvyi Rih, resulting in tragic consequences. According to local authorities, four people lost their lives due to the attack. The strike caused significant damage to an educational institution as well as residential buildings. This was reported by the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration, Serhiy Lysak.
"As of now, in Kryvyi Rih - there are four fatalities. Three women and one man.
Three individuals have been injured. This includes a 22-year-old woman and men aged 34 and 56. All are in serious condition. Medical professionals are providing the necessary assistance. All emergency services are working at the scene," Lysak reported.
Two five-story buildings were damaged in the city, one of which caught fire. Additionally, unoccupied structures also sustained damage.
According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES), the number of injured has risen to six.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky clarified that the Russian occupiers used ballistic missiles for the attack.
"Each such terrorist strike is yet another reminder of who we are dealing with. Russia does not stop on its own - it can only be halted by collective pressure. Pressure from everyone in the world who values life," the head of state wrote.
As a reminder, evacuation efforts are being intensified in Sumy Oblast due to the threat of sabotage and reconnaissance groups from the Russian Federation. The Sumy Regional State Administration reported on the strengthening of evacuation measures in the communities of the region due to threats from Russian sabotage and reconnaissance units.
