On the night of January 22-23, 2025, Russian occupiers launched another large-scale attack on Ukraine. A total of 92 drones were deployed from the directions of Millerovo, Orel, Kursk, Bryansk, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk, including kamikaze drones of the "Shahed" type and various types of imitation drones. Additionally, the enemy fired four ballistic missiles of the "Iskander-M"/KN-23 type from the Voronezh region at Zaporizhzhia. This was reported by the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
To repel the attack, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare (EW) units, mobile fire groups of the Air Forces, and the Defense Forces of Ukraine were engaged. Thanks to their effective actions, by 09:30, the destruction of 57 kamikaze drones and other UAVs was confirmed in the Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
Another 27 enemy imitation drones were neutralized without consequences. Three drones remained airborne, continuing their combat operations.
Unfortunately, the missile strike on the city of Zaporizhzhia resulted in tragic consequences. One civilian was killed, and several others were injured. Damage occurred to enterprises, institutions, multi-apartment buildings, and private homes. In Kharkiv region, the fall of downed drones also caused damage to facilities.
Emergency services are working at the impact sites. Rescuers are addressing the aftermath of the shelling, and all necessary assistance is being provided to the victims.
As a reminder, in Zaporizhzhia: the dog of the deceased man is sitting next to his body after the attack (video). Investigations into the consequences of the nighttime shelling on January 23 are ongoing in Zaporizhzhia. As a result of the attack, a 47-year-old man was killed, and 25 people were injured, including an infant.
