Russia launched a ballistic missile from the "Kedr" system at Dnipro, according to details released by the Main Intelligence Directorate.

On November 21, 2024, Russia launched an attack on Dnipro using the latest ballistic missile from the "Kedr" system.
Россия нанесла удар по Днепру баллистической ракетой из комплекса "Кедр", сообщает ГУР. Подробности ожидаются.

On Thursday, November 21, 2024, Russia committed another act of military aggression by striking Ukrainian territory with a state-of-the-art ballistic missile, reportedly from the mobile missile system "Kedr." The attack targeted the city of Dnipro, causing significant destruction. This information was reported by the HUR.

The missile was launched from the Astrakhan region of the Russian Federation, with a flight time to the target of just 15 minutes. During the final segment of its trajectory, the missile traveled at speeds exceeding 11 Mach, which greatly complicates interception by air defense systems.

The "Kedr" missile is a high-tech weapon equipped with six warheads. Each of these warheads contains six submunitions, allowing for massive destruction over a wide area. This indicates Russia's attempt to utilize the "Kedr" system to inflict maximum damage on civilian and critical infrastructure.

A number of enterprises from Russia's military-industrial complex have been involved in the development of this missile system, including:

  • JSC "Moscow Institute of Thermal Engineering" (Moscow);
  • JSC "Federal Scientific Production Center 'Titan-Barricades'" (Volgograd);
  • JSC "Main Special Design Bureau 'Prozhektor'" (Moscow);
  • JSC "Concern 'Sozvezdie'" (Voronezh);
  • JSC "Scientific Production Enterprise 'Spetsenergomekhanika'" (Moscow);
  • LLC "Research Center for Special Equipment and Conversion 'Kontinent'" (Moscow).
  • Tests of the "Kedr" system were conducted at a testing ground in the Astrakhan region in October 2023 and June 2024.

Ukrainian intelligence emphasizes that for every war crime committed by Russia, the aggressor will face just retribution. The use of such types of weaponry against civilian populations serves as further evidence of Russia's war crimes, which will not go unpunished.

It should be noted that the strike by Russia on Dnipro with the new missile has raised concerns. The UN has expressed worry regarding Russia's use of a new missile during the strike on Dnipro. The organization calls for the protection of civilians and an end to escalation.
