On the night of Sunday, Russia launched an attack on Ukraine with dozens of drones from three directions. Most of them were intercepted by air defense systems,
reported the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on January 19.
Overall, the enemy deployed 61 strike drones of the Shahed type and various types of imitation drones from the Russian cities of Millerovo, Bryansk, and Orel. The attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups.
"As of 09:00, the destruction of 43 Shahed-type strike drones and other types of drones has been confirmed in the Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Dnipropetrovsk, and Mykolaiv regions," the statement said.
An additional 15 enemy imitation drones were lost without negative consequences (usually this occurs under the influence of electronic warfare means, - ed.). One drone remains airborne. Combat operations are ongoing.
Recall that on January 18, Russia
struck Ukraine with four Iskander-M/KN-23 missiles and 39 drones. Air defense forces shot down two missiles and more than 20 drones. At that time,
there were casualties and injuries in Kyiv and Zaporizhzhia.
