Air defense systems shot down 144 aerial targets from Russia.
On the night of November 17, Russian forces launched a massive combined strike against Ukraine's energy sector using various types of missiles and Shahed-type attack drones. This was reported by the command of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to preliminary data, the radio-technical forces of the Air Forces detected a total of 210 enemy aerial targets (120 missiles and 90 drones):
- one hypersonic naval missile 3M22 Zircon;
- eight aeroballistic missiles X-47M2 Dagger;
- 101 cruise missiles X-101, Kalibr;
- one ballistic missile Iskander-M;
- four cruise/radar-homing missiles X-22/X-31P;
- five guided air-to-surface missiles X-59/X-69;
- 90 strike drones of unidentified type.
"For the air assault, the enemy deployed seven strategic bombers Tu-160 and 16 Tu-95MS, two long-range bombers Tu-22M3, five Su-34 strike fighters, four Su-27 fighters, ten MiG-31K interceptors, and four cruise missile carriers," the military added.
All forces and means of air defense were engaged to repel the attack: aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare assets, and mobile fire groups.
According to preliminary data, as of 12:00, there is information about the destruction of 144 aerial targets (102 missiles and 42 drones):
- one hypersonic naval missile 3M22 Zircon;
- seven aeroballistic missiles X-47M2 Dagger;
- 85 cruise missiles X-101, Kalibr;
- four cruise/radar-homing missiles X-22/X-31P;
- five guided air-to-surface missiles X-59/X-69;
- 42 strike drones of unidentified type.
Furthermore, as a result of active resistance from the Defense Forces, 41 enemy drones were visually lost in various regions of Ukraine, while two drones headed towards Russia and temporarily occupied territories.
Air defense operated in Kyiv, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Poltava, Odesa, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi, Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk, Rivne, Volyn, and Lviv regions.
