The use of the EPO application provides information about low-observable missiles and drones, helping Ukraine secure its airspace by 80%. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Defense for Digital Development, Digital Transformation, and Digitalization Yekaterina Chernogorenko on Sunday, November 24.
She emphasized that every Ukrainian can assist the Defense Forces in protecting the skies using the EPO application.
Ukrainian volunteers from Tekhnari developed the application so that civilians who detect low-flying enemy targets can promptly report them to the Air Forces.
Often, Russian missiles hide from radar in complex terrain conditions, and they can only be detected visually or audibly.
The Ukrainian development has been operational for over two years and successfully complements existing air defense systems by providing information about low-observable missiles and drones.
"If you notice or hear a target, open the application, select the type of object you see: drone, missile, aircraft, or helicopter, and press the large red button to send a message," Chernogorenko explained.
Within just 2-7 seconds, the data appears on the air defense maps of all officers. Additionally, the system utilizes artificial intelligence for precise trajectory forecasting of targets, while mobile air defense fire groups swiftly neutralize threats.
The program also features a "You have a missile coming" function, which alerts users that a missile may be heading in their direction.
According to Chernogorenko, the EPO application helps Ukraine secure its airspace by 80%.
This level of effectiveness has been achieved due to the application's popularity, with over 600,000 downloads and 200,000 active users.
It is worth noting that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russia has spent over $18 billion on strikes against Ukraine.
Furthermore, on November 17, Russia launched a massive missile and drone strike against Ukraine, firing 120 missiles and 90 drones. Traditionally, the enemy targeted energy infrastructure across the country. The Ukrainian air defense shot down the majority of missiles and drones.
