Nauseda emphasized that this will be a turning point in the fight against Russian aggressors and wished Ukraine to remain strong.
The President of Lithuania, Gitanas Nausėda, confirmed that Ukraine has received approval from Western partners to strike Russian territory with long-range weapons. He announced this on the social media platform X on Sunday, November 17.
He emphasized that this would be a pivotal moment in Ukraine's struggle against the Russian aggressor.
"The day has come! Now Ukraine can target military sites in Russia with long-range missiles. Peace cannot be achieved through weakness. Peace is a reward for the strong. Stay strong, Ukraine!" Nausėda wrote.
It is worth noting that earlier, The New York Times reported, citing sources, that current U.S. President Joe Biden has, for the first time, authorized Ukrainian forces to use long-range ATACMS missiles to strike Russian territory. This authorization was a response to Russia's unexpected decision to involve North Korean troops in combat operations.
