Ukraine has managed to return 1,002 children from Russian territory and temporarily occupied lands, but nearly 20,000 have been forcibly relocated by the Russian Federation. This statement was made on Tuesday, November 12, by the Ukrainian Parliament's Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmitry Lubinets, in Brussels at a European Parliament conference dedicated to the return of Ukrainian children home, as reported by
Radio Liberty. "First and foremost, our international partners are helping us. Our main partner regarding the return of Ukrainian children is Qatar. As a result, the number of Ukrainian children we are bringing back from Russia and the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine is steadily increasing," noted Dmitry Lubinets. The Ombudsman emphasized that Russia has forcibly relocated 19,546 children, while also suggesting that the actual number is much higher and will continue to grow. "They do not provide any information about Ukrainian children. There are one and a half million Ukrainian children living in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine. How many of them have already been deported by the Russians? We can only guess. But I am convinced that the number of children taken by the Russian Federation will increase," Lubinets remarked. The Ukrainian Parliament's Commissioner for Human Rights also added that the Russian Federation is "delaying" the process of returning Ukrainian children as much as possible. Lubinets urged the international community to establish a permanent body for the return of Ukrainian children, to join the coalition of countries working on this issue, to gather information on forcibly displaced children, to develop rehabilitation programs for them, and to work on holding those responsible accountable. Law enforcement officials have gathered evidence against a Russian war criminal involved in the
deportation of Ukrainian children during the occupation of the Mykolaiv region. This concerns the commander of a unit from the 205th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces - Djabrail Yusupov, known by the call sign Gabriel.
Let us remind you that the Security Service has reported suspicions against the Gauleiter of the Donetsk region, Denis Pushilin and his accomplices, who deported more than 30 Ukrainian children from the temporarily occupied territories to Russia.
The Ukrainian Parliament's Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmitry Lubinets, stated that the highest military-political leadership of the Russian Federation is involved in the forced deportation of Ukrainian children.
