Before the Polish border at the Medyka – Shehyni checkpoint, around 20 trucks are waiting in line. This was reported by Andriy Demchenko, a representative of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, during a telethon on Saturday, November 23.
"When the blockade began around 10 AM, there were about 150 trucks between the protesters and the Polish checkpoint. Currently, there are around 30 left. These are the vehicles heading towards Ukraine, and this number will be able to cross the border," he explained.
The spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service added that currently about twenty trucks are positioned in front of the protesters, "essentially creating a queue that they are restricting in movement, allowing only one truck to pass per hour."
According to Demchenko, the blockade of trucks at the Polish border may last longer than 48 hours. "It is possible that this action, these actions by Polish farmers will continue for much longer," he stated.
It’s worth mentioning that this morning, Polish protesters began blocking the Medyka - Shehyni checkpoint. Preliminary information suggests that the action will last for 48 hours, with a possibility of extension.
Additionally, from November 2023 until the summer of 2024, Poles have periodically blocked checkpoints on the border with Ukraine. They demanded a ban on the import of agricultural products from Ukraine.
