Russia continues to employ drone strike tactics, attacking Ukraine from multiple directions. In the night of January 28, 2025, starting from 8:00 PM on January 27, the enemy launched approximately 100 UAVs, including "Shahed" types, as well as drone imitators. The assault originated from territories encompassing Oryol, Bryansk, Kursk, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, as well as from Chao, located in occupied Crimea. This information is reported by the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The massive attack was countered by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare (EW) units, mobile fire groups of the Air Forces, and the Defense Forces of Ukraine. As of 9:30 AM on January 28, it has been confirmed that 65 strike drones and various types of UAVs were shot down in several regions: Kyiv, Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Zhytomyr, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, Odesa, and Kherson.
As a result of the attacks, particularly in Kyiv, Sumy, Cherkasy, and Kharkiv regions, buildings of private enterprises, infrastructure facilities, as well as apartment buildings and private homes were damaged. Additionally, vehicles were affected. Fortunately, no casualties have been recorded. Emergency services are actively working to mitigate the aftermath of the attack and provide assistance to those affected.
28 enemy drone imitators were destroyed or lost without negative consequences. Two of them flew towards Russia and Belarus, while one drone is still airborne, and efforts to neutralize it are ongoing.
Ukrainian security forces continue their work to repel enemy attacks and minimize their impact. Authorities and emergency services are already taking measures for the rapid restoration of damaged facilities and providing assistance to the affected.
