In Ukraine, representatives of the Armed Forces or other military formations are not permitted to commit violence against civilians.

This was stated in comments for Telegrаf by lawyer Rostislav Kravets.

If such incidents do occur, they should be documented to provide evidence for further investigation.

What to do in case of assault
“If there is a police officer nearby, I always advise requesting that they turn on their body camera,” the lawyer emphasized.

According to the lawyer, having a video recording from the body camera can help avoid disputes regarding the legality of the recording. In the event of a conflict, the lawyer can officially request this recording as evidence in the case.

At the same time, employees of territorial recruitment and social support centers (TRC) do not have the right to touch or engage with civilians without proper grounds. The tailor cited an incident in Vyshhorod, Kyiv region, where law enforcement attempted to forcibly remove a driver from a vehicle using pepper spray.

When the law is on your side
The lawyer also clarified: if anyone attempts to film military personnel without their consent, this may be considered a violation. However, in cases of physical violence or other unlawful actions, it is essential to have evidence, as without it, reporting to law enforcement may yield no results.
